Pre-Planned Cremation, Step-By-Step

With you every step of the way.

The days and weeks following a death can be difficult, especially when the grieving process is complicated by the need to make final cremation arrangements. That is when you will truly understand the benefits of pre-planned cremation services and the value of having Neptune Society at your side, guiding you or your loved ones through the steps associated with carrying out your pre-planned cremation services.

We encourage you to share these five steps with your loved ones and survivors. It will demystify the process and help ease anxiety at a stressful time.

Call Neptune Society
Call the Neptune Society
A call is all it takes to begin the process. We immediately send professionally trained personnel to the place of death to transport the deceased to a climate controlled holding facility for proper care and storage. By calling us first, we not only safeguard the privacy and dignity of the loved one, but also protect you from additional charges associated with other providers. Additionally, we will also notify the family members you have identified.
Complete necessary forms with our help
Complete cremation authorization forms
By law, certain forms, certificates and authorizations must be completed before cremation can take place. In all cases, a death certificate is mandatory. It is completed by us with information provided by the family, then delivered to the physician and/or medical examiner for signatures regarding cause of death. The time it takes to obtain these signatures varies, especially if an autopsy or medical records are requested. Some requirements vary by state, so it makes sense to meet with a local Neptune Society professional to ensure compliance. In any event, Neptune Society will keep you informed.
Arrange for the cremation
Arrange for Cremation
The cremation usually takes place within 3-10 business days once the necessary authorizations and documents have been properly signed and have been filed with the local health department. This will vary, depending on the authorizations discussed in step #2, or any additional investigations related to the death.
Make transport and distant death arrangements
Transportation to crematorium
At Neptune Society, we urge planning for the unanticipated as well as the anticipated. Whether the deceased is brought "home," or distant death arrangements are made, we are ready to help you. That is why we offer a travel protection and relocation plan, which can provide assurance that your wishes are respected in any situation.
Create a memorial
create a memorial
Following cremation, ashes or cremated remains, may be dispersed at sea or returned to the family. An increasingly popular practice is memorialization, a final and fitting step for those who want to leave the world a better place. The Memorial Reef is a unique example of memorialization that is enduring reaffirmation of life after life. Being aware of memorialization, and making others aware of this ultimate form of self-expression, is critical to having final wishes fulfilled.
